In 1989, a Syracuse restaurant owner, and 5 month pregnant Karen Korteling was on a family vacation in Tuscany Italy. Many times during her trip she had to make untimely stops because the baby was hungry. At one of these stops they could not make heads or tails of the menu so she simply said “baby hungry” to her server. To her delight, they came back with some pasta tossed in a sweet yet spicy tomato and olive oil sauce that clung to the pasta.
Karen fell in love and brought this flavor back to Syracuse where it became an instant classic at her restaurant, Pastabilities. Serve with bread, add to pizza sauce, on a burger and of course, over your favorite pasta. This is the good stuff!!
